Sexual and Reproductive Health Resource Explorer

Some sexual and reproductive health topics include more resources than others. Consider asking the following questions as you consider whether to use a resource:

• • What is the purpose of the resource? Resources address a wide variety of subjects. For example, some may be focused on policy recommendations while others focus on sharing topical information. The type of resource can be a helpful indicator of the purpose of the resource—toolkits and trainings often have more practice recommendations than briefs and reports.
  • Is the resource relevant for the context in which you provide youth support? Bear in mind that some of the resources were developed to provide state-specific guidance, especially as you look at resources that provide recommendations on compliance and information about the law, rights, and access to sexual and reproductive health services.
  • Is the resource relevant for the youth you support? If there are no resources on a topic for the specific youth population you support, consider whether resources on the same sexual and reproductive health topic but focused on a different population could be relevant.

• Communicating about sexual and reproductive health: Resources with guidance on communication strategies and talking points for communication about sexual and reproductive health
• Contraceptives: Resources with information on access to and benefits of contraceptives, as well as medically accurate information on contraceptive methods
• Healthy relationships: Resources with guidance on forming healthy relationships between youth, between youth and the adults in their lives, and between youth and their own children
• Pregnancy and parenting: Resources with guidance on supports available to expectant and parenting youth, their needs and rights, and strategies for working with them
• Pregnancy prevention: Resources with guidance and strategies on preventing adolescent pregnancy, youth perspectives on pregnancy prevention, and contextual information on adolescent pregnancy in Activate’s key audiences
• Rights and access to sexual and reproductive health services: Resources with strategies to ensure that youth understand their sexual and reproductive health rights and can access sexual and reproductive health services
• Sex trafficking: Resources with information on risk factors for sex trafficking and strategies for working with youth who have been involved in sex trafficking
• Sexual violence: Resources with guidance on working with and supporting youth who have experienced sexual violence
• Sexually transmitted infections: Resources with information on risk factors and prevention of sexually transmitted infections
• Trauma and sexual and reproductive health: Resources with guidance on trauma-informed approaches to working with youth and information on how trauma affects youth
